Great Plains Theatre in Abilene is pleased to announce that Tom Milligan and Deborah Kennedy will be joining the staff as Artistic Directors for the 2016 Mainstage Season. Milligan, an award winning actor, has been a working theatre artist in the Midwest for the last 45 years. An Iowa native, he began his professional career in 1972 at Iowa's first dinner theatre, Charlie's Showplace. Since then, Milligan's career boomed and expanded with vast diversity. His credits include: acting, directing, set design and construction, production stage manager, tour manager, technical coordinator, and producer. He also served on the board for the Drama Workshop for 6 terms, and has been associated with The Humanities Iowa Speakers Bureau, The Heartland Arts Fund, The Metro Arts Alliance, and the Iowa Arts Council.
This diverse and dynamic team met in 2005, and they have been creating theatre magic ever since. Together, they have been the creative production team for over 70 productions, and are now co-producers of TKM Productions. In addition to their mutual love for the theatre arts, Tom and Deborah developed a love for each other and were married in 2008.
"Great Plains Theatre is thrilled to have such a fabulous husband and wife team come join us in Abilene," said executive director, Elizabeth Weese, "they will be tremendous assets to GPT, and I look forward to working with such talented people who have a great passion for theatre."
