City of Abilene Public Meeting 10/12/15
The City of Abilene will host a public meeting to outline the proposed improvements to NW 11th Street that are being designed due to the construction of new Eisenhower Elementary School at the intersection of Vine Street and NW 11th Street. The meeting will be held at the Abilene Middle School located at 500 NW 14th Street beginning 6:00 pm on October 22, 2015.The City will present several options for the design of the street, to include sidewalks and bike lanes, with the primary purpose of safely accommodating Abilene youth who will be attending Eisenhower Elementary School and Abilene Middle School. The public is invited to attend the meeting, and will be asked to provide input on the options to assist in the final decision of the street’s layout.
The City, in partnership with the Health and Wellness Coalition and other community stakeholders, is exploring possible routes for the Abilene Cowboy Trail. The “trail” is a concept introduced as a route for safe bike and pedestrian transportation connecting various amenities in Abilene. The NW 11th Street Project may become part of the initial implementation of Phase I of the Cowboy Trail.
Questions about the NW 11th Street Project or the Cowboy Trail may be directed to City Manager David Dillner at (785) 263-2550.
