Great Plains Theatre's Mainstage Season Continues with Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers
Neil Simon's Pulitzer prize winning play Lost
in Yonkers opens July 8th at Great Plains Theatre.
Great Plains Theatre continues is 22nd Season
with Lost in Yonkers, by
America's great comic playwright, Neil Simon. The play will run July 8
through July 17. As the play opens, ne'r do-well son Eddie deposits his
two young sons, Jay and Arty, on the grandmother's doorstep. He is
financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to
contend with Grandma, and their Bella, their mentally challenged aunt, with her
secret romance, and with Louie, her brother, a small-time hoodlum in a strange
new world called Yonkers, NY in 1942. The hit Broadway production
featured Irene Worth, Mercedes Ruehl and Kevin Spacey in award-winning
performances. The NY Post wrote, said about Lost in Yonkers, "THE
BEST PLAY SIMON EVER WROTE."
The cast of professional actors includes
Kathleen Warfel as Grandma Kurnitz, Matthew Aaron as Eddie Kurnitz, Sarah Hoch
as Bella, Cody Davis as Louie and Jamie Finkenthal as Gert. The two young
boys Jay and Arty Kurnitz are played by Nichols Wright and Jackson Welch
respectively. The production is directed by Great Plains Theatre's
Artisitc Director, Randal K. West.
Following the opening night production on July
8th, will be a catered Afterglow, to give the audience patrons a chance to
meet and greet the actors. The Afterglow hor d'oeuvres are sponsored by
West's County Mart.
