Memorial Hospital and the Abilene chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution have a long and strong history together.  In the beginning of Abilene’s DAR chapter, it and its members were supporters and contributors to the building of the hospital that opened in 1922.

This year the local DAR chapter is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and in support of this, the Memorial Health Foundation has set up a display for public view in the Memorial Hospital lobby. In the display case is the original charter, the chapter’s gavel made from wood from the White House, and other bits of information telling how the chapter has supported the preservation of Abilene history.

The DAR display was unveiled during the recent Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours hosted by Memorial Health Foundation.
