Abilene's "Fall Clean-Up Week"
The City of
Abilene's "Fall Clean-Up Week" will take place Monday, September 21st
through Friday September 25th.
This will be a benefit to all residents who participate. The City asks for your cooperation in
following the regulations. The items that
do not meet the requirements will be the resident's responsibility. This clean-up is being provided to residents,
but not commercial businesses. Items will be picked up curbside only. Listed below are items the City will Not
dispose of:
- Tires;
- Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and humidifiers;
- Any portion of trees or limbs over 4" in diameter and/or 6 ' long;
- Household hazardous water & chemicals, such as batteries, paints, oil or fuel;
- Improperly sorted waste, (metals & appliances, brush & limbs, & general trash needs to be in separate piles);
- Any construction or demolition waste such as lumber, treated or painted lumber, pallets, sheet rock, blocks, bricks, plywood or particle board, & posts with concrete or wire attached. Any other items the County Transfer Station does not accept.
Residents
please note that appliances, metals, household hazardous materials, such as
paints, oil, batteries, and herbicides are accepted free of charge at the
County Transfer Station as per their normal operation. The Transfer Station, located east of Abilene
on Jeep Road, also accepts, free of charge, all e-waste. This includes
televisions, VCR's, printers, computers, and most other small electrical
devices.
The city
pickup schedule is as follows:
Monday, September 21
North side of 10th St. to north city limit, from Mud creek to east city limit;
North side of 10th St. to north city limit, from Mud creek to east city limit;
Tuesday, September 22
South side of 10th St. to north side of 3rd St., from Mud Creek to east city limit;
Wednesday, September 23
South side of 3rd St to south city limit, from Mud creek to east city limit;
Thursday, September 24
West of Mud Creek from north city limit to south city limit
