WALK FOR ALZHEIMER’S AWARENESS

LOCAL WALK RAISES ALZHEIMER’S AWARENESS


Village Manor and Brookdale Assisted Living, senior care facilities in Abilene, are partnering to raise awareness to the challenges faced when a loved one suffers from Alzheimer’s or dementia.  The 2015 Foot Steps To A Cure walk will be held September 12. 

The three mile walk will begin at Brookdale Assisted Living, 1100 N. Vine.  Walkers will travel a route following 7th Street to Village Manor, 705 N. Brady, and return to Brookdale.  There will be a rest/water stop at Frontier Estates, 7th and Buckeye.  The registration fee is $25.  Walkers need to register no later than August 28 to guarantee receipt of a T-shirt.  Day-of registration begins at Brookdale Assisted Living at 9:30 a.m.  The walk begins at 10:15 a.m.  Following the walk, Armour Eckrich will provide a hot dog lunch at Brookdale Assisted Living.  Information booths and a bouncy house for kids will also be on the grounds. 

Pre-registration is available online at www.FootStepsToACure.com.  A registration form can be printed and mailed in with payment or payment can be made online.  For more information about the event, call Todd at 200-7150 or Amy at 263-1431.  Information is also available online at www.VillageManor.org.  

All proceeds from the walk will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The Alzheimer’s Association’s goal is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through advanced research, provide support for those affected, and promote brain health.
