HEARTLAND HEALTH CARE CLINIC WELCOMING NEW PHYSICIAN

Dr. Amanda Baxa and her family will be moving to Abilene when she joins Heartland Health Care Clinic in November.  The Baxa family is shown (from left) Antonia, Tim, Sophia, and Dr. Baxa.

Memorial Health System is pleased to announce that Amanda J. Baxa, M.D., is joining Heartland Health Care Clinic, 511 NE 10th St., Abilene.  She is scheduled to arrive in November 2015.

Dr. Baxa is currently attending the Family Medicine Residency program through the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita.  She will complete the residency this fall.

Dr. Baxa and her husband, Tim, are looking forward to their move to Abilene.  They both grew up in small, rural Kansas towns (Tampa and Cuba) and feel it is important to return to a small town to raise their family.  They have two daughters, Sophia, age 3, and Antonia, age 15 months.

Both Dr. Baxa’s and her husband’s interests are family oriented and centered around the home.  They both enjoy gardening and cooking, and church is an important part of their lives.  The Baxa’s also enjoy giving back to the community and being involved in activities that build and support the community they call home.

Dr. Baxa says she is impressed with the staff at Heartland Health Care Clinic.  “I am very excited to join the clinic’s excellent health care team.  While my passion is women’s health and children, I love that in Abilene I will be caring for the whole family.”

Dr. Baxa received a Doctoral Degree in Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita, in 2012.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Science with a minor in Biology.  She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians.
