MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM HELPS PATIENTS WITH DISCOUNTED PRESCRIPTION PROGRAM
Memorial Health System partners with local pharmacies to help individuals who are without prescription drug coverage save money on prescriptions through a 340B program. Outpatients of Memorial Hospital and Heartland Health Care Clinic may qualify for the program.
The 340B program is a U.S. Federal Government program created in 1992 that requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations at significantly reduced prices. Maintaining services and lowering medication costs for patients is consistent with the purpose of the program. The intent of the program is to allow covered entities to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services.
In 2014 Memorial Hospital’s 340B program saved its patients over $49,000 in discount prescriptions. Memorial Hospital partners with Auburn, Patterson, and Trapp pharmacies.
Patients who are without prescription drug coverage and a patient at either Memorial Hospital or Heartland Health Care Clinic, can contact 263-6835 to ask about the 340B program and how to save money on prescriptions.
