VILLAGE MANOR BEGINS “WHAT’S FOR DINNER?” PROJECT
Village Manor residents meet with Mabel Carlson, Dietary Manager at Village Manor, for the “What’s for Dinner?” project. |
The “What’s for
Dinner?” project is an interactive project in which the residents of Village
Manor, along with Dietary Manager Mabel Carlson, will be looking at possible
changes in the food menus at Village Manner. The plan is to gather recipes from
anyone willing to share them.
At Village
Manor, the residents always have a choice at meal times. “I want to make sure
that the choices available are ones that residents themselves would include on
their menu if they were still preparing their own meal,” Carlson said. “I am
excited about getting together with our residents and hearing their ideas for
mealtimes. It’s going to be informative and fun for both the residents and
myself,” she continued.
There will be a
monthly gathering at which a different course of the meal will be discussed,
such as main dishes, casseroles, desserts, etc. Carlson will have available
samples of new recipe ideas for taste testing. Residents will then help to
decide “What’s for Dinner?” After sampling a new recipe and placing it on the
menu, the group will then decide whether it is one that they would like to have
placed on the menu permanently. Each meal of the day will ultimately be
reviewed.
“If you think
about it, most of our best memories of family, friends, and fun times revolve
around food. I wanted to be able to bring some of these memories back to our
residents by getting together and sharing food memories,” said Carlson.
