On October 11, 2014, the Impact the Cure run began with 360 registered participants.  Impact the Cure is an annual event for Breast Cancer Awareness and helped raise funds for mammography services for the uninsured in Dickinson County.  Both the 5k run and the 2 mile fun walk were held in downtown Abilene, Kansas.  The event is hosted by Impact Sports and Fitness, an affiliate of Memorial Health System.  

Eagle Communications hosted a pancake breakfast that filled the bellies and fueled the bodies of those gathered there that morning. Participants and spectators both enjoyed the merchandise booths and health information that were designed to allow individuals to express their support and give them opportunities to learn about the latest topics, issues and procedures in the field of breast cancer.

Awards were presented to Impact the Cure 5K winners in the following categories:  over-all male, over-all female, and the top three in each age group.
