Chaffee/Bradshaw Summer Art 2016 Registration Begin NOW!!!
The Arts Council of Dickinson County is now taking
enrollment for the 25th annual Chaffee/Bradshaw Summer Art classes.
These classes are open to students who will be in the fourth through
twelfth grades in fall 2016.
Classes are held Monday through Friday at Cooper
Clean, 1214 N.W. 3rd Street, Abilene. There are two sessions of
classes this summer, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Abilene artist and educator, Karen Cooper, will instruct these classes.
Classes begin on June 13 and are held through July 1. Throughout the
three-week course students learn drawing, painting and a variety of
other art techniques. Classes are $60 per student or $50 per student
for Arts Council members and scholarships are available. Space in each
class is limited to 12 students per class. Enrollment forms are
available by calling the Arts Council at 263-1884.
An
art exhibit featuring the students’ works will be shown at the
Eisenhower Presidential Library, beginning with a reception July 13th.
The exhibit will run through July 29th.
The
Chaffee/Bradshaw Summer Art classes are underwritten in part by
memorial funds established for the Arts Council of Dickinson County. In
1991, Dr. Dean Chaffee established a memorial in honor of his wife,
Ruth Chaffee, an artist who especially loved children. Dr. Chaffee
intended that classes be implemented for students with a serious
interest in art to develop creative expression through drawing and
painting. Several years ago, this fund was enhanced with gifts in
memory of Ruth’s sister, Betsy Bradshaw, an avid arts supporter and
long-time Arts Council member.
The Chaffee/Bradshaw Summer Art classes are also presented in part by the support of Arts Council of Dickinson County Members.
