Marci Penner to Address Annual Tourism Luncheon
Marci Penner, well known advocate of tourism will be guest speaker at the annual Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau Tourism Luncheon on Friday, May 8, in the Eisenhower Presidential Library Courtyard. Penner is Executive Director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, a public non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and grow rural culture in Kansas. Penner’s group may be best known for sponsoring the Kansas Sampler Festival, a two-day event held the first weekend in May, attracting 5,000 to 15,000 people. In 2014 and 2015, Wamego hosts the Sampler Festival. Deb Sanders, Chairperson for the Abilene CVB stated “We are thrilled to have Marci as our guest speaker. She has done so much to educate Kansans about Kansas and to help communities realize and meet their potential.”
Tourism awards will be presented to individuals and attractions who have exemplified the impact of tourism. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. Reservations may be made by contacting the CVB at 263-2231. The Abilene Rotary Club is partnering with the CVB to host the luncheon. The public is invited to attend; however, reservations are required by May 5.
